Some strategies for the creative process

Physics Seminar for Artists

Lecturer
Seminar course – Arts Faculty
Universidad de Antioquia, Medellín; Colombia
2010

  • The course involves physics science as an inspiration for artistic processes.
  • Phenomena of movement, waves, electromagnetism, light, soap bubbles and astronomy were considered.

The scope of this seminar was to take physics phenomena concepts in its basic form and communicate them through workshops and lectures to the students. With this aim, the physics could spread its boundaries to transform its concepts in an aesthetic form.

Taking into account the scientists and artists who have worked around those issues, their masterpieces and techniques employed, each student was invited to elaborate his/her work at the end of the semester according to the phenomenology and the technique that they preferred to choose.

As a result, each student developed sketches, photographies, devices or experiments in order to be incorporated on their creation process.
